Alastair Burn- Murdoch and his wife Rose find that covering weddings allows them to capture both character and emotion. Alastair's passion is people photography and celebrations offer so many opportunities to get the best view of friends and family. In the ten years since he went professional, Alastair has developed his own reportage style, one that keeps both couples and families very pleased with the results. With the focus away from posed images, there is the time and potential to show all aspects of the day. Alastair told Real Life Weddings, "People relax as Rose and I work together, probably because they see us enjoying the event too! Although we're relaxed and approachable, we do cover the traditional essentials, but the emphasis is on recording the day." This means mixing informal posed photos with real-time images and often some more dramatic shots. But rather than taking you away for hours to do this, Alastair firmly believes that many photos should include guests; "This interaction is something we like to catch," he says. "In fact, I suppose the strangest compliment we get is, 'I hardly knew you were there', which is how it should be." Working from home suits both the couple and their clients. "We are always happy to offer evening appointments. This tends to be when folk are free to meet up, and we are really not morning people... luckily very few weddings take place at 9am!"
