Andy Currie has been taking photographs for nearly 30 years. He has been a full-time professional since 2003 and his personal work has been exhibited in the National Gallery of Scotland. In 1986 he shot his first wedding – he knew immediately that weddings brought out the best of his skills, both with a camera and with people. Andy works alongside wife Karen, his second photographer. “We cover all aspects of the day and always keep the atmosphere fun, relaxed and enjoyable,” he says.
In order to ensure their photographs are timeless, the couple tend to stay away from trends, and their laidback approach makes them easy to deal with: “We always put our couples in charge on the day – we’ll work around what they want to do, and we’ll never boss them around. The results speak for themselves.”
Andy thinks of himself as a kind of magician: “We make the magic happen; we love the challenge of working with people, venues and weather to make unique and beautiful photography that people will treasure forever. Seeing a couple smile when they see their final images in print is the reason we do this. The enjoyment we get from that moment is immeasurable – it’s just the best feeling.”
