Dom Bower discovered his love of photography when he was living in Japan. "After so many years living in Scotland, I wasn't really observing my surroundings any more," he explains. "In Japan everything was so different; it really opened my eyes to the world around me, and I was particularly intrigued by what it looked like through a lens." Since returning to the UK, Dom was selected as one of 25 contemporary Scottish artists whose work was showcased at London's Caledoniart exhibition. "Over the years my photography has gone from strength to strength," he says, "not only in weddings, but also in music video shoots, food photography for top Scottish restaurants and magazine work." Dom's style is diverse and flexible, in that he can take either a documentary or traditional approach, depending on the couple's needs. "My wedding photos are modern and natural without being cheesy or posed. There are no gimmicks." He is also very discreet when he needs to be, "so that the couple can enjoy their day while I am taking photos in the background. I'm easygoing, good at giving direction and have the ability to control a crowd, but not in a bossy way."
