Within Paula's circle of friends, she was always the one who brought a camera with her on nights out. After studying Printing and Design at college she went travelling for a few years, taking the camera along too of course. "It was a natural progression to go back to my artistic roots by returning to college to study photography," she says. Paula is passionate about her work, to the point of obsession! In fact, her dedication sometimes leads her to extreme scenarios to get a shot just right; "You might see me hanging over a balcony or lying in mud," she laughs. Keeping her feet mostly on the ground, though, is Paula's Mum. "I am lucky enough to have my Mum assist and photograph weddings with me. She looks so young everyone thinks she's my sister! And she's so easy-going that we make a brilliant team."
Paula's style involves taking natural and fun images, with some reportage and traditional group shots. Documenting a couple's wedding day is an incredible privilege in Paula's view: "What other profession lets you spend your working days with people at their happiest moment in life?"
This positive attitude shines through in her work and, when combined with a calm reassuring approach, the end result is fantastically relaxed and beautiful photographs.
