It was a wedding that first got Roddy Mackay interested in photography and the invitation of some friends that got him to seriously consider it as a career a few years later. Now Roddy has an impressively wide portfolio that has seen him travel to five continents and 12 countries, all in search of images he hopes will engage and inspire. He has also undertaken work for newspapers and magazines, which has seen him develop an ever-expanding breadth of skills. This experience helps him undertake the challenges of each new wedding day. "I love the diversity of my work," he told Real Life Weddings. "Every day is different, as is every client; and that helps keep me on my toes and means I offer a personal approach to whoever I may be photographing. No matter what direction I may point my camera, it's people I love the most." It's an approach his clients seem to appreciate; Roddy has been commissioned to cover weddings throughout Scotland and as far away as Alabama, Philadelphia and India. He has also received praise for his documentary work in Scotland and abroad. With a broadening portfolio, Roddy's documentary work continues to attract attention; he's been shortlisted for the title of 'Scottish Young Photographer of The Year' for the last three years.
