Ken and Janet Thomson are the husband and wife team behind the aptly named Team Thomson Photography.
Based in Glasgow and working throughout Scotland, their approach to wedding photography is to blend into the background, creating the images that will define a couple's wedding memories. "We are primarily quiet observers of unfolding events; when we do step in - to take the family photographs for instance - we work quickly," explains Ken. The couple is often complimented on a "light touch" and easy manner that helps people relax and look good in front of the camera. They have a particular ability for boosting the confidence of camera-shy clients, but it's not always the easiest of tasks... "We had one lovely bride who burst into tears when we were just talking about the photography for the day," recalls Janet. "We were able to keep her relaxed and smiling and everything was fine in the end." Initial nerves, she says, are overcome by forming relationships with the couple. "We always meet at least once beforehand, or have extensive telephone conversations with couples from overseas." They have no particular customer type, she says. "But it definitely helps if they share our romantic outlook on life!"
