Sleek, smart and spacious, the Cruz is a
400-tonne steamer built in 1919 and now
berthed on the picturesque Leith waterfront.
Originally named ‘Ocean Mist’ and previously
owned by the Guinness family, the ship came
to Leith in the mid 1980s. It was moored
on the Water of Leith and used as a floating
restaurant until 2000. In March 2005, however,
a 1.1 million pound refit began which was to
breathe new life into the boat and at the end of
2006 the Cruz opened as a piano bar, function
room and restaurant complex.
Today the Cruz is home to a number of stylish
bars and restaurants and is arguably one of
the most versatile wedding venues around.
The vessel has a 260 capacity for evening
receptions and can host a maximum 80 guests
for the wedding breakfast. In short it is able to
cater for the largest to the smallest of parties
and certainly offers a day to remember.
The facilities include a separate sound system,
big screen overhead projector and bars on
every floor – including the upper deck, which
enjoys spectacular views! Menus are tailored
to meet individual needs. “We have held
weddings here for the past two years and
they always have a great atmosphere. Cruz
is an extremely versatile venue and we are
committed to working with the couple to make
their celebration a beautiful and memorable
day,” owner Matthew Tabatabaie told Real Life
Weddings.
