The stunning gothic-style Mar Hall near Glasgow has a reputation as one of Scotland’s most luxurious five-star hotels. Thanks to its careful mix of classical and contemporary furnishings, manicured gardens and breathtaking views, it brings out the romantic in everyone who visits.
Wedding co-ordinator Shona Ferguson can offer advice on everything from the bridal party’s arrival to the last dance of the night, as well as all the important bits in between, of course. “We will do whatever we can to offer assistance and advice to help a couple plan their day without stress and worry,” Shona says.
Ceremonies are held in the Burgundy Suite within the main hotel, a room enjoying views onto the Kilpatrick hills and River Clyde, with the wedding breakfast (for up to 150) taking place in Morton House.
Shona says the best thing about hosting weddings is getting to know the couple and their families throughout the lead up to the wedding: “It's great watching them gradually become more relaxed, yet excited, and then seeing the beaming smiles on their faces on the big day itself. It’s lovely to see them so happy after what may have seemed to them like a lifetime of preparation.”
The hotel has 53 bedrooms, ten of which are reserved at a discounted rate for the bridal party – and there’s even a complimentary four-poster room for the bride and groom!
